Questions

How do I know if my 2 euro coin is rare?

Look at the national side: the country, the year and the design. Most coins are worth exactly their face value. The ones worth more were struck in small numbers, such as many issues from Monaco, Vatican City, San Marino and Andorra, or carry a known minting error. Our guides give the official mintage of each coin.

Where do your values come from?

From real completed sales, such as auction results and sold listings, each shown with its date and source. Values are market estimates, not appraisals, and they change over time.

Can I trust the prices I read in the news?

Often not. News articles tend to repeat catalog or asking prices, which are usually higher than what coins actually sell for. We show real sold prices, with the date and where the sale happened.

Is there a Coinvalo app?

The Coinvalo iPhone app is coming soon. It will identify a coin from a photo and show what it is worth. Until then, every guide on this site is free to read.

Is Coinvalo part of the European Central Bank?

No. Coinvalo is independent and not affiliated with the European Central Bank, the European Commission or any national central bank or mint. We cite their official data, with links.
